Much of what students learn about Hellen Keller in school stops at her childhoodâhow she coped with her disabilities and excelled despite them. We usually donât learn the details of her adult life. Did you know that she co-founded the American Civil Liberties Union in 1920; was an early supporter of the NAACP, and an opponent of lynchings; and that she was an early proponent of birth control?
Itâs time to shine a spotlight on the contributions by people with disabilities. One in four Americans have a disabilityâitâs important to raise awareness and inspire others that they too, can make a difference.

What she created sounded a bit like #gospel music, a bit like blues, and was an entirely unique style that became rock ânâ roll, later influencing icons like Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin. Women make up less than 20% of the workforce in most aviation occupations: Only 5% of pilots are women and women make up about 6% of airline CEOs. And Black female pilots make up just 1% of commerical airline pilots globally. 35-year-old Rexy Rolle serves as President, CEO, and General Counsel at Western Air, the largest privately-owned airline in the Bahamas, and sheâs taking it to new heights. She launched the airlineâs first flights to the United States, and remains focused on the customers, operation, and overall mission.
In 2001 her parents founded the business, growing to the largest privately owned carrier in the Bahamas. âEach person plays a part. And as a family business, itâs truly an honor to step into the role that my Dad served for so long.â Weâre soldâtake us to the tropics! đŽ
